Adaptive Defensive Shooting Summit blog

Mobius Mobility was on-site to provide demonstrations of the iBOT® Personal Mobility Device (iBOT® PMD) at the Adaptive Defensive Shooting Summit (ADSS). The event took place September 10-11, 2021, at the Sig Sauer Academy in Epping, NH. The Adaptive Defensive Shooting Summit is an accessible shooting event for people with disabilities of all skill levels and knowledge of firearms. Participants receive instruction and training from the SIG Academy instructors, including first aid, hand-to-hand self-defense techniques, and, of course, gun safety and handling.

Attendees who opted for a demo drove the iBOT® through gravel, over a grassy hillside, up and down 5” curbs, and more!  The Mobius Mobility adapted RV was present, so attendees also had the opportunity to experience stair climbing.

As one of the participants noted, “I had the opportunity to really give [the iBOT® PMD] a good test. I went over rocks bigger than my fist”.

The ADSS was presided over by event founder, Trevor Baucom. Trevor is an iBOT® user and is a former U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter pilot.  He received a medical discharge after he was injured in a crash during a nighttime assault mission while serving during his fourth deployment in Afghanistan. The injury left the Blackhawk command pilot paralyzed from the waist down.  This was the 3rd annual ADSS. Planning for next year’s event is already underway, with discussions of extending the event and providing additional adaptive equipment and aids to allow for even greater participation.  If you’d like more information on this event, visit:  www.adaptiveshoot.com
